What is a Weighted Grade Calculator?

The Weighted Grade Calculator by AJAI Tech Solutions is a free educational tool built for high school and college students. In most modern education systems, not all assignments carry the same importance. For example, a Final Exam might be worth 40% of your grade, while homework is only worth 10%.

Our tool uses a complex algorithm to multiply your scores by their respective weights, giving you a highly accurate, real-time snapshot of your current academic standing.

Final Exam Target

Switch on the "Final Exam" feature to instantly find out exactly what score you need on your last test to pass the class or maintain an 'A'.

GPA Tracking

Along with the percentage, the calculator provides an estimated Letter Grade (A, B, C, D, F) based on standard US college scaling.

How to Calculate Your Grade Using This Tool

  • Step 1: Enter a name for your assignment (Optional, e.g., "Midterm" or "Quiz 1").
  • Step 2: Input the Grade you received in percentage (e.g., 85 for 85%).
  • Step 3: Input the Weight of that assignment as stated in your class syllabus (e.g., 20%).
  • Step 4: Click "Add Another Assignment" to add more rows if needed.
  • Step 5: Click Calculate My Grade. The tool will calculate your weighted average and display your letter grade.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

The formula for a weighted grade is:
(Grade 1 × Weight 1) + (Grade 2 × Weight 2) / (Total Weight Completed).
If your weights don't add up to exactly 100%, our calculator automatically normalizes them so you get your accurate "current" grade.

If your class uses a total point system (e.g., 450 points out of 500), you can simply enter your points earned divided by total points in the "Grade" box (which is 90%) and set the weight to 100%. Or, calculate each assignment by putting Points Earned in Grade and Total Possible Points in Weight.

The letter grade is based on the standard US grading scale: A (90-100%), B (80-89%), C (70-79%), D (60-69%), and F (below 60%). Note that your specific university or professor may use a slightly different curve.
